Panasonic AG-7750 opinions, good VCR?
Looking to pickup a unit for a good price to help with my soon to be ripping station. Missed out on a great deal for a JVC HR9600U at $100 CDN so now found this Panasonic and was wondering if anyone has any input especially since this appears to have a frame TBC.

No, it does not have a frame TBC. (This wrong information is traced by to orsetto on VH.)
It's very mediocre. These old decks do not operate how people think they will. These were made for recording/editing onto S-VHS. Not to play consumer VHS tapes. So no non-SP mode (LP, SLP/EP), no auto tracking, etc. The units are also ancient, and almost all of them have usage problems now. Many are irreparable, no maintenance for too long, now beyond salvage. I assume you want to actually use the VCR for video, yes? Most of these are going to be project decks, with limited usability. On the cheap, you'll do better with a non-TBC JVC S-VHS + Panasonic ES10/15 type DVD recorder as TBC(ish), or ES16 Canada model. |
I think LS meant to say the 7750 does SP mode but not LP mode.

Fixed. Originally, that sentence was backwards ("only SP mode, manual tracking"), but I re-write it in the negative ("no SP mode, no autu tracking"). But I meant "non-SP mode". Good catch. :congrats: |
