VHS capture glowing lines moving in image?
2 Attachment(s)
I am trying to figure out what might be causing a couple of Glowing Horizontal Lines moving vertically up my VHS capture.
I have included an example. Both the raw HuffYuv Avi capture and a compressed mp4 file. Both show it pretty clearly. It isn't something that will correct using tracking or TCB. I cleaned the heads of my VCR using my Head Cleaning Tape, but may do a deeper cleaning opening it up, but was curious if anyone recognizes this issue. This was a shrink wrapped pre-recorded professional tape. Connecting directly from VHS player to Capture Device. I tried with another professional pre-recorded tape, and I see the same behavior. It happens for the entire tape. I am testing out a recently acquired JVC SR-V101US VCR, and trying to verify it. Definitely looks like a VCR issue. Any thoughts on what is needed to correct it? |
That's typical electrical interference.
It could be picked up by anything: - the capture computer - the VCR - any wires in use Common causes = microwave, stereo, cell phone, cordless phone It could be coming from within your home, the neighbors house, or even a mile away from an illegal transmitter. Never over-clean VCR heads. Those wear and ruin from both use and cleaning. |
Thanks.
That looks to be it. I pulled the vcr away from the rest of my electronic gear and it cleared up. |
Speaking of interference, is it a good idea to use a filtered power line conditioner when capturing, as opposed to plugging your recorder and VCR directly into the wall outlet?
