My VHS tape keeps skipping?

This is a vhs TV recording that skips when playing. It's a 4 hour tape I think, and the problem appears like 10 minutes in to about 50 minutes in

I tried playing it on a Panasonic PV V402 and the reels weren't turning regularly for this portion. When I played it on an Sony SLV 779HF the reels turned regularly but just gave a blank screen unless I played it with its 2x speed feature. I attached the video for each VCR below.

Should I get another VCR to try record this tape, or is there some issue with the tape causing it to not be read properly? I also switched the shell of the tape, but no change. I'm not sure if I should swap to the tape to another reel if that would make a difference.

I had an issue last year, shell swap did nothing. It damaged one of my production JVCs beyond repair. I have no idea what's wrong.

For the Panasonic it looks like sticky tape. Would be good to see a video of the drum with tape around it during the playback.
Not sure about the Sony.

This one kinda messed up one of my backup Panasonic's that I sacrifice for bad tapes. It doesn't play extended tapes properly anymore after that, only sp ones play properly. I don't have any experience fixing these, so I will probably send it in for service to see what can be done.

I wish I did take a video, I have since left it as lower priority as I wanted to digitize the tapes in better condition first. The Sony one inside it looked like any other tape, the reels turned well, and the drum turned freely, just that the screen was blank. The Panasonic, the drum was rotating well, but the reels kept turning well for 1 second, skipping forward like a second, turning well, then repeat. One thing I haven't tried is transferring the tape to a fresh reel. I'll see if I can get a video, and then might transfer to another reel to see if it makes any difference. If all else fails, the 2x speed isn't horrible I guess, I could just slow it down and get something out of it.

Also I forgot to turn on multi quote, apologies for the double reply.
