Magnavox H2160MW9 disc will not finalize

I have a DVD-RW that I recorded which will not finalize. error E19.
Is it because I recorded too much on it?

Unlike my JVC, the Magnavox does not give me a good feel of how much is left on the disc based on the recording mode SP that I have set.

Hi, I have a 2160 also. not sure of your problem, but I don't usually finalize DVD-RW. Actually it doesn't even allow that for me. Actually I'm using DVD+RW.

Was this disc full to the edge? Errors like this usually happen because the disc is bad -- it fails out on the outer edges, past about 3.8GB of data.

The disc is a Fuji made in Singapore that I have used multiple times before usually I record full 2 hours to it. However, this is the first time I have used it with the Magnavox.

Perhaps I should do a full format?
I am not quite sure how to do that. I usually choose Erase Disc.

I am thinking that the Magnavox doesn't quite like DVD-RWs. The problem is that I have at least 30 of them. Hate to throw them away.

Yeah, a full format may help -- maybe. Can't hurt. Put the disc in your computer, open up the freeware tool ImgBurn, and then go to
  • Tools >
    • Drive >
      • Erase Disc >
        • Full
And then erase the disc with a full format. It should complete in about 15 minutes. That will refresh a DVD-RW/DVD+RW, restoring it to a virgin state.

If it fails during format, it's definitely a bad disc.

ImgBurn is available at http://www.dvd-recordable.net/Downlo...-lid-119.phtml

Thanks for the tip about ImgBurn. I have that program but did not know that I can format using it.

I was also glad that I had Isobuster and was able to rip the video to my computer hard drive even though the disc would not finalize.
