Hi-
New to the forum, but have been reading for awhile...Thanks for all the helpful information. I Tried to import some Digital8 footage last night from my Sony Digital8 Camcorder via 1394 Firewire. Running Vista, but system recognized the camcorder and allowed for full functional on screen controls. Appeared to Capture in real time, BUT upon playing back, video plays double speed (video & audio) with no means to change speed back to normal. Same Camera will play a regular Hi-8 tape normally, and computer will capture audio & video fine, using this camcorder as a Pass thru via DV. Could this be a Camcorder issue. I did notice that the Digital Video, when played back, seems somewhat "jumpy" with some Horizontal Blocks of video being out of sync. Would dirty heads cause DV to be encoded improperly. Also any ideas for options for a Video Capture card for my new Vista MCE computer... Thanks to all in advance... Chris |
What software was used to "capture" (transfer) the DV footage?

Hi Kevin---
Thanks for asking...But the problem is solved. Cleaned the heads gently last night and viola, DV via Firewire works fine. Just using the import tool for Windows Movie Maker, but will experiment with WinDV. Thanks! Chris |
I highly suggest using WinDV for DV transfer needs.
