BR-S811U and BR-S610U JVC pro

Anyone have ever "the chance" to work with this kind of JVC pro products?

I will be curious to know how it can compare to JVC consumers high end line.

- BR-S811U
- BR-S610U
- Prices

I saw this classifieds adds close to my town. 450$ negociable, briefly tested and working!

What is less interesting for me it that they just do NTSC.

They probably been abused!? :D

I think there is some hours counter on those unit!

Finally I think this unit suck! no conventional S-video output

These old "Big Bertha" style units were generally created/engineered/designed for, and used in, very specific scenarios. One of them is specialized editing. The other is medical procedure recordings, either for insurance or training. In most cases, these large techie-looking decks -- which appear to be props pulled off the 1960s Star Trek set -- are limited in abilities. For example, SP mode only. S-VHS tapes only.

Those decks are generally guaranteed to be abused, and many were used in environments that make them undesirable.

But in term of technology period, does this pro deck have some equivalent vs HR-S9900U; HR-S9800U or even "newer" model!? It looks like the very last S-VCR made are for consumers....

I've always taken issue with the idea that a S-VHS was ever made for a consumer. A JVC 9600, for example, was $500+. Most consumers in that same time period were looking for sub-$100 VCRs at Sears, Kmart, Best Buy and Target. It was "prosumer" because it included some consumer features (the tuner and a remote), while otherwise being a straight professional use deck. It was popular in several settings.

I don't think those old big decks are equivalent, no.

Thanks

By the way today I did a steal!

HR-S9600U in good working and cosmectic condition for 50$.
Classifieds adds all the way...add description was very lossy "JVC VRC for sale"
But picture cannot lie, I beginning to be good to reconize models just by general picture...but still have work to do...
