Huge sale for ATI USB 750 and ATI PCIe 750
Just letting you know that there're good deals on both on newegg.com if anyone needs them. Sale ends on September 30th.
USB is $23 after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ti%20usb%20750 PCIe is $15 after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...i%20pcie%20750 I will review USB shortly. It's comparable to ATI USB 600. |
WOW! Thanks for the info. I don't think I can resist picking up the PCIe card.
The 750 USB is way worse than the 600 USB in dealing with uncorrected signals, but it should be okay if you use a TBC. |
MSGohan, when I first got ATI USB 650, I couldn't use it with VirtualDub version that I had. So I managed to use it with VirtualVcr. It gave me all sorts of crazy AGC problems. Then I got ATI USB 600 and learned that I needed to use VirtualDub 1.9. It worked well. Then I got ATI 550 Pro PCI and ATI 750 USB. 550 gives a bit of white smear. 750 is very similar to 600 and I will review it later.
Now I decided to pull ATI 650 USB out of the box which I was going to sell and test with VirtualDub 1.9. It does not seem to give me AGC problems anymore. What's going on? Is it VirtualVcr vs VirtualDub 1.9? |
I'm tempted to get one, but have no idea when I'd get around to testing it. Too much other work to do. :(
I look forward to your review, however. :) |
Are you testing with the same source as before? Got any uncorrected VHS to play into it?
|
Right now I am testing with DVD Digital Video Essentials. I don't plan on digitizing VHSs anymore in the near future, but I plan on digitizing LaserDiscs. For LDs I plan on doing parallel simultaneous captures: one via S-Video into ATI USB 600. The other one is via composite into the device that has motion adaptive 3d comb filter. Candidates are ATI USB 650 (need to get 2nd laptop), ATI 750 PCI-e (need to test it and if happy with results, need to buy or borrow a new desktop for this) and the 3rd candidate Panasonic DMR-ES25.
The last one itself will have 2 options. If it digitizes uncompressed into HDMI, I will get Black Magic Intensity Shuttle for Thunderbolt. If not, then I will buy another ATI USB 600. |
The ATI 650 cards is a giant POS. :hypno:
No reason to test that unless you just want a known-bad card in the loop. It has horrible AGC issues. A common goober would notice it! That's bad. The ES25 is a use I've never seen, based on your posts. That should be interesting to see how it goes. |

Could it be because I am using drivers from VisionTek CD and use VirtualDub 1.9 as opposed to other drivers and VirtualVCR? Or could it be because I am not using VHS but I am using DVD? Although I do remember that PCI version of it did have AGC issue even with Video Essentials DVD. |

I use VirtualDub 1.9.x too. As far as drivers go ... don't remember. (I've slept since then. :P) Upload them to the forum. Let's see! |

I do remember the same DVD DVE did trigger AGC with the PCI version of this card when I used it with VirtualVCR.
750 PCIe sounds promising. What about AGC issues? Yes/no? So if I get 480p output, will it be double frame rate? Or will it be stil 29.97 with just deinterlaced frame? Quote:

It will be 480p59.94. Quote:

This thread has crossover with this one. http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide...tv-wonder.html
For those that find it via search, or are new to the conversation, read both. ;) |
If anyone still wants the 750 USB, they've lowered the sale price so it's now $18 after the $20 MIR.
I was surprised to find that there are a lot of foreign products based on the Theater 750 chip (it's labelled T507 for whatever reason). Both cards ATI 750 HD PCIe and USB triggered AGC problem with Video Essentials LaserDisc on identical spots. And there's no user way to turn AGC off, right?
|
What triggers the AGC?

My workflows: LaserDisc Player Pioneer Elite LD-S2 (second best in the world). :) 1. BNC composite out to: ATI Wonder HD 750 PCIe. 2. BNC composite out to: Panasonic DMR-ES25 which in turns passes the signal to Component output to the cheap $20 Conexant USB stick with unknown name. LaserDisc: VideoEssentials. Look at the frame number 34 in file agc750.avi. It is brighter than the frame 33. This is not the case with agcconexant.avi file which doesn't trigger AGC. I also attached color bars for both cards captured from LD. Can anyone please help me to adjust proc amp for both cards? Thanks. |
