Panasonic AG-1980 TBC as a pass-through

Just to confirm, you can not use the AG-1980's TBC to correct the signal from other devices? That is, for example, to feed another VHS tape in to the 1980, and then use the 1980 s-video out's to send a nice clean signal out to a capture device?

I was hoping to save a purchase of a stand alone TBC by using the 1980's.

I will have to pry open the boxes that contain my old Video Toaster and see if I can get the DPS TBC IV cards working...

According to the user manual, "The TBC function only works during normal playback."

However, playback of the VHS tape in the AG-1980 could benefit (if the unit does not suffer from failing caps.)

As proof of the pudding with your specific source tapes and VCRs, give it a test to see if it has any beneficial effect. While the TBC may not be operating there might be some other beneficial effect.

Correct. It does NOT work on passthrough. It only work on VHS or S-VHS tapes that are being played back on the deck.

If you need a passthrough capable deck, then look at the Panasonic ES10 through ES25 series.

Look in the marketplace forum: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/marketplace/
In fact, one of our members has one on sale right now: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/mark...sonic-dmr.html

What sort of error are you trying to correct?
