I have used some of these setting during playback of tapes, Just wondering how much Trouble/Benefits these setting might cause, especially the "Normal/Soft/Sharp" settings, In my use so far, the "Sharp" only seems to highlight the rough edges around mountains with sky background, filmed with a 1990's consumer grade Cam...Anyone used one of these Units?

Don't sharpen analog tape during capture. You're sharpening noise. Use "Normal". Sharpen in post-processing with software, after denoising.

And what do you think that tells you about sharpening noisy input during capture?

3D-Y/C doesn't function during playback.

DNR&TBC, well you pretty much need to enable it unless you have another line TBC. I was sadly surprised to find that turning it off doesn't actually disable the DNR; it just lowers the level.

As stated, set Play PerfecTape (aka sharpness) to Normal.

The other PerfecTape function is just for recording, according to the manual.

The forum automagically resizes image. ;)

LOL!, I was wondering about that, all that time I spent re-sizing..Oh Well..Again LOL!:)

..so does that mean I can save a little time and upload a high-res pic w/o re-sizing first?

Sharp is not pretty. Too much noise, and a detailer (SignVideo DR-1000) is much better.
Soft is only good for noisy cartoon tapes.
Normal is where it should be left 99%+ of the time.

The max upload for JPEG is 2mb. Downsizing is still preferred, as the server's resize algorithm is not as good as Photoshop/etc. All you do is make the server work harder.
