Philips VR 1000 best for VHS digitizing?

I'm new to this forum, but it seems I'm in the right place to ask this question. I'm thinking of digitizing VHS tapes for my family and their acquaintances. Not for any commercial purposes. Anyway after delving in to the "world" of digitizing tapes, I soon came to realize not every simple recorder will suffice. So after browsing some fora, mostly this one, I learned I need to search for a special kind of recorder.

Now I found the Philips VR 1000 which has build in TBC and DNR. I found it hard to get a hold off the whole specifications of the device so that's whats my question is about.

Is this a device that is "rated" as a good device for digitizing videos, and do you think €150 is a fair price for the recorder?

The Philips VR 1000 is a recorder from my collection of approximately 45 recorders.
The TBC and DNR is not usable, better take a TBC-1000, and then filter the film with Avisynth + VDub.
If you want to get the best picture and sound you have to try several recorder / Feeder

Try with and without internal TBC, compare image.
First, capture only time 10 minutes approximately

OK understood, so a better option would be to go for another recorder. What about the JVC HR-S 7700. I checked the VCR buying guide but the only number that is secluded is the 7700, is there a particular reason why?

The other option would be the JVC HR 7600, for around €150.

The Philips VR 1000 is almost a clone of JVC HR-S7600
the S7600 has previously received the 7th place. See image
Normal attempts to a couple of different recorders.
Good are Panasonic NV FS 200
NV HS950 + 960 and AG4700

JVC 76xx+ units should be excellent, due to NR and TBC, not in spite of it.

It all starts in hardware. You can use Avisynth/etc in post, after capture, to get best results. But as sebva says, this is for favors, not pro or even personal work. I think stopping at having a good VCR with TBC, and a good capture device (or DVD recorder) is fine. That's where I stop for favors. They get the hardware treatment, and no more. More is only for $$$ due to time needed.
