A good VCR head cleaning material found?

Hi,
I wanted to clean the heads of my Blaupunkt and because I don't have Chamois I accidentaly found what I think is a very good material for this purpose. You know inside the CD/DVD disc bundles there is a white plastic damping ring. This is a soft, matt, flexible material with slight moisturing capabilities in about 5cm in diameter. I gave it a try and liked it very much. There is no fear for lining (?) or catching the edges of the heads as the material seems to have all the right qualities. And don't think it is just like foam, it's not.
