ATI all in Wonder Cards AGP or PCI Expres or USB?

Hello,

I've got access to a lot of older computers so finding a decent one with AGP or PCI Express or of course USB is not an issue.

With regards to the above ATI cards, for those who have experience using them all in particular, are any type 'better' than the other?

By 'better' I mean in terms of the quality of captured VHS video.

And of course I know from reading this forum the capture card is only part of the solution. A recommended Super VCR + TBC + Computer running Windows XP completes the picture.

Cheers,

Paul

The AGP and PCie "X" series are preferred over the USB models, but the USB 600 still gives excellent performance. Note that the USB's are capture-only devices, the others are more complex full-service graphics adapters.

ATI All In Wonder Radeon (ATI AIW): AGP (best) > PCI > PCIe (worst of 3, but not bad).

The workflow matters. The main difference is MPEG-2 via ATI MMC. All are fine with plain AVI in VirtualDub.

The main advantage of the USB (ATI 600) is convenience, and compatibility beyond Windows XP. So far, ATI 600 USB is confirmed to work in Vista, 7, 8, and 10. Not bad. Most hardware fails to function within an OS upgrade generation.
