JVC DR-M10 unreadable disc, can't record?
 

Hello all,

I just obtained a JVC Dr-M10 DVD Video Recorder based off advice given on this forum. I'm attempting a massive VHS to DVD transfer project. Anyway, although I am using the verbatim DVD-r's recommended here the unit does not allow me to record or select a record mode. I get an unreadable disc message when selecting "play." I've checked the "aux L-1" etc settings but nothing seems to help.

If anyone can offer any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Is the disc writeable in a DVD burner?

You tried others, not just the single disc, right?

It be a disc quality issue. Maybe compatibility, but that's far less common (almost rare).

I rarely use DVD-R in this unit, and usually only DVD-RW. I forget if it has to be formatted for writing. However, it the disc was good, it should prompt you. (Some records requires pre-formatting, some do not.)
