No video on Arcsoft ShowBiz, Hi8 conversion?

5 Attachment(s)
My camera is a Sony Handycam Vision CCD-TRV107 NTSC videoHi8

My hardware is a ClimaxDigital USB 2.0 Video Capture Kit VCAP302

I have bought a replacement cable for connecting the camera to the ClimaxDigital cable, I feel this may be the issue. Link for this cable: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371256578959
One end of the cable plugs into the 'A/V OUT' port on the camera and this resembles the end of an AUX cable. The other end is simply a male composite red, white & yellow that plugs into the converter.

My software is ArcSoft TotalMedia ShowBiz version 3.5.15.68

I have sucessfully converted other JVC tapes using a video cassette player and adapter, and now I am trying to convert using my HandyCam as a player and nothing is showing up in the 'Capture' function in ShowBiz.

When I click 'Device Settings' the 'Signals detected' and 'Lines detected' both read 0.

I have no idea where to go from here, any help would be hugeley appreciated.

Photos attached should give an impression of my setup.

What you have their is essentially a re-branded infamous EZcap devices, and problems and low quality are its hallmark.

With a quality capture card, it's as easy as plugging in the camera's composite or s-video video, and RCA audio, and a-capturing you shall go. Of course, that also has issues, which is why a TBC is needed between the capture card/device and the player/camera.

That software should be dumped immediately, and use the freeware VirtualDub instead.

You may have the wrong cords for the camera.
