JVC HR-9900U shows Auto on screen?
 

My 9900u shows "Auto" on the screen and I can't get it off. It won't allow me to play a tape or anything else. I have unplugged it several times to see if it will reset. I have read online where someone said to hold the power button on the remote, but I don't currently have the remote for it.

Anyone have experience with this? It worked fine a couple of months ago, but its been unplugged for a bit.

I bought the remote and can't figure out how to get it off the screen. I insert a tape and it shows the normal screen for 2 seconds, then it goes to a blinking "Auto" and I can't figure out how to get it out of this mode.

I looked through the manual and can't figure it out either.

Any suggestions?

Also......I pressed and held the power button on the remote as many have suggested I do.

I need to see screen caps of every menu page.
