ATI AIW 2006 PCI-E, yes or no?

1 Attachment(s)
Hey everybody.
Just a quick question. As my only legacy PC that didnt get thrown out by my parents is a device with PCI-Express I was thinking about getting this specific ATI AIW 2006 PCI-E used:
Attachment 8728
First question, is this a complete set?
And second one, is this AIW card worth buying or should I just go with one of the more up to date AIW alternatives listed in the sticky thread? I basically just want to do lossless 8mm tape AVI recording with VirtualDub with it.THX in advance :)

Seems fine. I'm not a big PCIe fan, but mostly due to the MPEG capturing aspect. If just lossless, you're fine. Just remember that XP is required. I tried to get a working 2006 PCIe at least twice over the years, but always ran into duds. I'm actually curious if it acts more like the 9800 AGP or the x600-1900 PCIe. I'd be interested in seeing test captures.

if the negotiations work out like I hope and i get the card I will do that for sure!

I will be working with a CCD-TR810E PAL camcorder (with s-video and probably some tbc functionality) and a Panasonic DMR-ES15 as a pass-through tbc alternative. I am not sure if this not really professional setup will be good enogh for test videos that will make you happy though :P

Here are a couple of captures which I made with my ATI X1800 AIW system last week. Source material was a commercially prerecorded copy of The Return of Jafar from 1994 (Disney previews) and a Time/Life video of "Angels: The Mysterious Messengers" from the same general time frame. Workflow was a JVC SR-VS30 >> TBC-4000 >> X1800 AIW/Xonar DGX (sound) installed in a homebrew system built around an ASUS P5QPL-AM motherboard and 4GB RAM running Windows XP. Captured lossless with VirtualDub 1.9, HuffyUV codec.
