Laserdisc: How to protect from laser rot?

i'm thinking of purchasing a laserdisc or two.

can someone here tell me how to protect these from laserrot?
any other things i should watch out for?

all help appreciated.

I have never encountered laserrot but my laserdiscs are kept in a climate controlled room where its never too hot or too cold and all my LD are stored in their sleeves

I would wager to say just keep them out of areas with too much of an extreme temp (too hot or too cold) and be careful when you handle them (think handling a record) and you should be A-OK

And make sure you store them standing up right (like you would a 12" record) DO NOT lay/pile them on their side

ta for that guys.

if i may, i have another question. this time about playback & recording.

data on laserdisc is analog right?
but want to transfer film onto dvds.

what's the best method?

composite out of laserdisc player to rgb scart in of my jvc dvd recorder?

or composite out to svideo in?

or what?

ta up front.

Composite out to DVD recorder in. I'd say go the SCART route. I've never really liked the s-video/composite crossover cables.
