WDM capture driver failure, ATI MMC 8.8?
Per yesterday's post, am still receiving message during the AIW MMC "PC Check" that the WDM (Capture) drivers are not seen in registry. This after again fully uninstalling and reinstalling the ATI software, but not yet scrubbing the registry as jwillis84 suggested. However:
- I have been able to capture MPEG 2 from an SVCR, and - I see installed drivers in Device Manager for five "properly working" ATI WDM components: Rage Theater Audio, Rage Theater Video, Specialized MVD Codec, TV Audio Crossbar and TV Tuner. A sixth component which I have seen elsewhere on the Forum - ATI WDM Specialized PCM Codec - is not present. Don't know if that is just unique to some MMC versions or not. Mine is MMC 8.8 Is the PCM Codec required? Or could this be a case of the problematic MMC "PC Check" which Lord Smurf mentioned in conjunction with the sound card clock reading? |
Don't worry about those tests, they're not accurate. See how it actually performs.
If you see WDM install in device manager sound/media section, and it captures MPEG in ATI MMC (or AVI in VirtualDub), then it's installed. It has to be. |
Thanks Lord Smurf. I will proceed with renewed hope!
