Run VDub and VDub2 in compatibility mode on Windows 10?

Windows 10 did numerous updates yesterday that totally hosed both VDub abd VDub2. They would crash so hard that even Task Manager would not close them when not responding. I rolled Windows 10 back to a few days ago and they are again working - for now. Would it be advantageous to run VDub in compatability mode? Would that help avoid problems like this, or would I be better off just disabling the wireless connection so Windows can't change anything? Virtualdub 1.9.11 has a WinXP SP2 mode available and Virtualdub2 has a Windows 7 mode available.

windows 10 is not useful for video capture

compatibility mode and virtual machine video capture.. are not wise, they will waste your time

find an old PC with Windows 7 or Windows XP, clean it up and use that for video capture instead

After I rolled back the updates this morning Virtualdub has been completely stable. I took it off the network, so no changes will be made now. I captured 2 hours in 3 sessions with no dropped frames to Huffyuv. Are you saying compatability mode is a kind of virtualization? In that case I'll just make sure I stay with this current stable configuration.

if it works for you.. good luck

the normal pattern is:

1. Hey I made Win10 bow to my will, it works!!
2. Okay.. tired of the hiccups, trying compatibility mode, its totally stable!
3. Okay.. I can't stand all these problems, I'll set up a HyperV/VMware/VirtualBox machine.. look its the best.
4. i.. went to ebay today.. bought a toshiba gamers laptop with XP on it for 40 bucks.. I'm almost done with my project
5. i hate windows 10

the levels of denial are well known
