Thank you for the comment. It seems to be a good idea. I am afraid, it will be not that easy to find a dvd writer with s video input and HDMI out.

@Jwillis, thank you for your comment. Since I had the fieldmonitor/recorder available I wanted to set up this experiment. Lots of people are complaining due to the lack of tbc's for Blackmagic and other capture cards. It surely had advantages, but up to now, I only got it working for composite video. Up to now, I could not find a decent s-video to HDMI 1080P converter. I do not have enough knowledge to measure the difference between the HDMI output from my LG, and from the many converters. Do they really output progressive scan?

They are quite widely available used on e.g ebay. I've done HDMI capture with a a Sony RDR-HX750 myself and a JVC DR-M100 myself, and the Panasonic ones seem to be a popular choice in the German community.

You will most likely also need a HDMI splitter like this to avoid HDCP issues. Not all splitters work, though I got one of those a few months ago which did work at least.
