Avisynth slows VirtualDub to a crawl?
I have bitten the bullet and am trying some very basic Avisynth stuff. I am finding. however, that calling an Avisynth script in VDub is causing VDub to stop at times, with almost constant messages "Decoding Frame...XXX".
The script I am using is: AviSource("F:\Misc Video\Flying\Mirages\Mirage Wet Takeoffs\Mirage Wet Takeoffs.avi") It's a Lag AVI, but I also tried an uncompressed AVI with no improvement. I have an i5-750 with 12gb of RAM, using Avisynth 2.60 and VDub 1.10.4. Windows 10 is on the C drive (an SSD). Virtual Dub is on the D drive. If I open the video file in VDub, it runs instantly with no delays dragging along the timeline. A Neat video filter render would result in around 7FPS, but I can't imagine being able to achieve anything at all with Avisynth. I've tried putting the video on the C Drive and the D drive, with no improvement. Is this performance hit to be expected? Thanks, Al |
What happens if the AVI loaded in Avisynth is a Huffyuv file?

Same issue with Huff, LS. Freezing when dragging along the timeline.
-- merged -- I'm probably going to be spanked for this... It runs like a rocket with VDub 1.9.11. :smack: So I guess I'll be sticking with that then... :o |
Naught, naughty! Yep, I missed the version number.
1.9.x is fine VirtualDub2 x86 can be fine. (Still some issues with it, trying to work with the dev to address those.) |
