How do I join several .mov files without reencoding on a Mac?

Hi! There's seems to be surprisingly little info on the question in the title out there, most search results on various forums where the question has been asked never really seem to actually answer the question with any clarity. I would greatly appreciate if somebody could guide me here.

Is there any way for me to join / merge a number of .mov files that are all from the same video capture source with identical codecs and everything, into one single video file without any loss of quality, i.e. without the program forcing me to reencode? I am on a Mac still running 10.13. Which programs would be applicable?

Thanks!

I don't know if this will work on a Mac, but on Windows you can put them all into an uncompressed archive like a RAR file, and then change the extension to match the video files. Worth trying at least.

I'm skeptical that that would work. It is for sure possible with command-line ffmpeg though.
