Free music and sound FX for video?

Hi everyone,

I've created over 900 tracks of music and sound effects that you are welcome to freely use in your projects. It's all original...all my own work. All I ask is to be attributed as detailed on my homepage:

http://soundimage.org/

I sincerely hope some of my tracks are helpful. Any and all feedback is welcome and always much appreciated.

All the best,
Eric

I keep monitoring this thread. Right now, it's viewed as helpful to the community, not spam. :)

This week is a mixed bag. First off, I made looping versions of a some of the tracks on my Events/Travel page...I think these new looping pieces could sound very nice in games.
  • "Puddle Jumping_Looping", "Magical Getraway_Looping", "Mystical Journey_Looping" http://soundimage.org/events/
  • Here's a short intro piece that might be nice in a deep space game of some kind...or a video:
  • "Space Game Intro" on my Sci-Fi 5 Page http://soundimage.org/sci-fi-5/
  • And a silly piece that might work in a crazy game or app: "Monkey Races" http://soundimage.org/funny-3/
  • Next up, we have some sound FX on my Sci-Fi Ambience Page, starting with another slimy sounding Alien swamp piece. As I say on my site, if Kirk tells you he's been to this place, he's full of crap. "Alien Swamp 2", "Alien Atmosphere" (Looping and non-looping), "Dystopic City Drone", "Dystopic City Echo" http://soundimage.org/sfx-scifi-amb/
  • Just for kicks, we have: "Creepy Percussion 11" http://soundimage.org/sfx-creepy/
  • And lastly, we have a force field sound effect. In retrospect, maybe I should have named it "Energy Field" instead, but oh well. "Force Field" on my Snd FX -Sci-Fi Page http://soundimage.org/sfx-scifi/
8/31
My newest free tracks all live on my brand new SFX - Urban Ambience Page.
9/6
9/13
This week's new free tracks are all on my Funny/Quirky/Weird page.
  • "Invasion of the Giant Disco Ants"_Looping, "Disco Ants Go Clubbin’"_Looping, "Cheesy Science"_Looping, "Warped Alien Band"_Looping, "Cranky Monster"_Looping, http://soundimage.org/funnyquirky/
9/27
As always, let me know if they are helpful! [x2x]

Eric

Since you said you wanted feedback....your sound effects are great and should be very useful!

In terms of attribution, you request that your attribution must appear in the videos themselves--not just listing it in the info section. How would someone discover a video using your sound effects (which presumably is the purpose of the attribution) if the attribution appeared in the video and not the info section? If the video airs on a widely-viewed but limited content source like TV, I can see its effect. But on a medium of endless content with views widely dispersed and quite skewed (like YouTube), I would think most people would find your material via a search engine. No?

lordsmurf 10-11-2016 12:18 AM

I've merged and condensed past posts.

"Info section"? You mean the credits? That's where everybody is going to post... well... credits!

But yes, I agree, these will be found by search engines. And by users on other sites -- authority sites like this one. It's one reason he's being allowed to post here. We're not viewing it as spam.

Also, this site has 30k+ members. Only Site Staff is privy to the details, but we have some interesting domains in the registrations. There are video pros of all genres, from indy to studios, that visit here. Some never post, but merely peruse for advice and to keep current on some of the analog techniques discussed in posts here. We can see the login/read activity. You can never tell who may see this stuff, and like it!

Winsordawson 10-11-2016 02:23 AM

Yes for advice....like for the question I was about to post! :o I also only learned of his site from here. By the way, which day of week is usually the most active?

By 'info section' I meant the video description area of a YouTube video. I was referring to the attribution policy found on his website

Quote:

IMPORTANT: You must properly attribute me in order to use my music legally:
You must attribute me in the actual video or game…not merely on the Youtube or game info page.
and how it would help if someone uses his video and cites his work within it, but not in the video text description area.

Word-of-mouth. But not SEO.

Interesting. I would think people would be less busy on the weekend, but then again they are probably not sitting around at home....

The video/photo/web pros are not at work on weekends. :wink2:
And start of a new week, start of a new project.

Was busy shooting a new film this past week, but I did manage to get some new tracks done for everyone. They are on my Fantasy 6 and 7 pages:
Enjoy!

Eric_Matyas 01-22-2017 10:10 PM

I want to send out a great big heartfelt thank you to everyone who has personally reached out to me about my film "Then Mediative Coast." I'm glad that you're enjoying it and hope that it helps to lower your blood pressure in these stressful times that we live in. Please feel free to share the film with anyone who might find it helpful. In that spirit, here are this week's new free tracks:
  • "Still of Morning"_Looping, "Thumbing Across Alaska"_Looping, on my Quiet/Peaceful/Mellow page.
  • "Serenity in the Sky"_Looping, "Tranquility at 30,000 Feet"_Looping, "Where the River Begins"_Looping on my Quiet 2 page.

Hey Everyone,

I had a busy week shooting images, but I did manage to get some new tracks done:

"STRANGE NATURE"_Looping – Bizarre creatures are everywhere…if you look.

http://soundimage.org/naturescience/

"HYPNOTIC ORIENT"_Looping – I’d love to hear this in a travel video.

"EXOTIC DREAMING"_Looping – of faraway places. (I've been doing a lot of that lately.)

"EXOTIC CRUISING"_Looping – might be nice in a travel or vacation video. (Anyone want to treat me to a cruise? Haha.)

http://soundimage.org/events/

Awe, come on...I could really use a cruise! ;-)

Eric_Matyas 02-12-2017 11:05 PM

Well, it was another busy week, but I guess that's a good thing...keeping busy keeps me out of trouble...usually... ;-) Anyhow, I managed to get these done:

"RIVER IN TROUBLE"_Looping – Thinking about the Colorado River in the American south west.
"ALASKAN MOONRISE"_Looping – Could work in a nature documentary or perhaps something else.
"FLURRIES"_Looping – That chill in the air tells you the first snow fall of winter is on its way.

http://soundimage.org/naturescience-2/

"PELICAN BAY TIKI PARTY"_Looping – A fun tropical piece.

http://soundimage.org/positive-upbeat/

"SCULPTURE GARDEN"_Looping – A string piece with the suggestion of gently bubbling fountains. Might be nice for a classy outdoor event.

http://soundimage.org/classical-sounding/

I also created a new page of sky images...mostly taken around sunset...for anyone who's interested...(TXR - SKIES) I hope some of them are helpful. :-)

Have a good week!

Hi everyone,

It's a little hard to believe, but Soundimage turned 3 years old this month, so I wanted to send out a big thank you to everyone who has been so positive and encouraging from the start. Creating original music is a lot of work, but it's thrilling to hear my tracks in your games, apps, videos and emerging art forms like interactive novels. I feel like part of me is in your work, and it's incredibly satisfying to be able to help you make your visions into realities.

Thank you!

In a few more weeks, I should have seamless looping versions done of nearly every track on the site. That said, this week's new free tracks are from my sci-fi pages. They are:

"Retro Sci-Fi Planet"_Looping

"Night Winds"_Looping

"Eerie Cyber World"_Looping

"Dizzybot"_Looping

http://soundimage.org/sci-fi/

"Dystopic Technology"_Looping

http://soundimage.org/sci-fi-2/

I hope some of them are helpful!

Eric
