Extracting color values from YUV422 sample?

Hello,

The initial part of one of my VHS tapes has normal colors, but the other part has a very reddish appearance to it. I suspect some setting on the camcorder was changed because I can see someone going behind the camera in the footage. In virtualdub, I tried my best to make the second part's colors the same as the first part's using the RGB and HSV filters, but they are not exactly close. I was wondering if I can somehow extract the exact RGB values from the first half and set those exact values to the second half using virtualdub or any other program. The original AVI file is Lagarith in YUV422.

Color issues like this are best addressed in analog proc amps, sometimes (but rarely) capture card proc amp controls, then finally color corrected in something like Premiere, Avisynth, VirtualDub Colormill.

Thanks. Still, how do I extract the correct color values during capture or in avisynth or virtualdub?

This is color correction. Exact methods will vary based on color problem present.
