Edge duplication error, video ghosting?

1 Attachment(s)
Hello, I apologize as I'm not sure what exactly to call this error, but hard edges are duplicated as shown in the example I have attached here. It seems to be specifically caused by my player, that being a Panasonic AG-1960, and exasperated by the DMR-ES15 I'm running it through for tearing issues.

Initially I was told it was known as ghosting, but that's more akin to frames being laid on top of each other correct? What exactly is this called, and is there any way to reduce/fix it? A capacitor replacement in the unit perhaps?

Thank you for your time.

This is probably a TV station ghosting problem, In cities with high buildings the UHF/VHS signal bounces around them and comes back with few nanoseconds delay which creates a ghost images for every angle it hits buildings. The only way to find out for sure is to use another player to confirm the condition of the tape.

That's broadcast ghosting, very common in analog cable/antenna days..

Very late reply, but thank you both. That's very interesting to hear, since this is a commercial tape. However, this does seem to be prevalent on a recorded tape as well, so that makes me wonder what source was used for this commercial tape. Thank you both again; I very much appreciate the help of everyone here, and I hope the forum continues to thrive.
