Virtual Dub Filter Issues & Questions

I'm in the process of cleaning up a project. but im having a few concerns with certain filters. please take a look and tell me what you think or what i should use or not use.

This is the original Screen cap with no filters.

This is with all the filters. but the Chroma Noise filter leaves strange purple or some type of colored water marks which to me is ugly.

Here is a picture with all filters except the chroma noise removal filter and also added a Cartoon Restore filter. Which to me looks the best but maybe not to someone else.

So if someone can please tell me what to add or not to add to get the best video possible.

Thanks

#3 looks the best to me too.....where can I get that filter?

Yes, number 3 looks much better.

Not number 2 ......lol Do away with the masking. Just crop a wee tiny bit from the bottom.
I always hated those masking lines. Makes everything look over cropped.

thats actually LS settings. so go tell him about the cropping

by the way what is masking?

Masking is used to cover up ugly vhs lines without cropping [88]

Number 2 is fine. You need the chroma filter on that specific show. When the video is in motion, you won't see those trails anywhere near as easily. It can be tuned down too, in the filter settings, to reduce the ghosting levels. Send your preset to me via e-mail (VCF file).

CP, don't be silly (senile granny). That masking falls into the overscan, cropping will horribly disfigure the image (this is an interlaced source!), and leaving it virgin will waste bitrate on garbage not even seen on screen.

nevermind the #2 looks great in motion. i need to get like 10 computers so i can fix them all up at once.

Well, you could always send the files or tapes to someone with hardware . My next future purchase is going to be a TBC . :D, (Detailer soon), and whatever piece of hardware I need to restore in real time
