Jvc sa-t400u tbc
Anyone have experience using a JVC SA-T400U TBC? I have a chance to get one but I've never used a TBC before, so I don't know if it's worth getting. I'd use it to (hopefully) improve the quality of VHS tapes recorded in SLP/EP mode.
Thanks. |
Hard to find much information on it, but it is old enough that it doesn't appear to have S-Video connectors for one. It looks like it might be one of the older ones that does 4:1:1 chroma subsampling instead of 4:2:2which also isn't ideal. It does have 7 pin dub connectors which can be adapted to S-Vide presuming they are labeled YC358 (presuming you're working with NTSC content). 7 pin dub connectors are pretty expensive and kind of a hassle to work with and very expensive to buy premade cables, though I suppose you could just directly wire your own S-Video jacks in their place. Either way, the chroma subsampling and non-standard connectors probably makes it less ideal than many other frame TBCs out there.
Questions: What's your budget? Does the VCR you're using already have a line TBC in it? |
