They can be used for SP tapes with no problems if they are in good working condition which most are heavily used, They just can't playback low speed tapes, Tapes recorded on these industrial machines can off course be played back on consumer VCRs.

Philips VR 1100 - which JVC is it equivalent to?
I can buy one, but I don't know if it's worth it. |

A clone doesn't have to have an equivalent, Sometimes a manufacturer designs the outside and source out the mechanism and electronics from another OEM, I've seen this happening a lot in the 80's and 90's, So whatever you need to know about this VCR is in its manual.
|
The manual is identical to that of other JVCs, so what should I read from it (apart from the fact that it has TBC/NR/3R)?
|
What else do you want to know related to capturing/playback and it's not in the manual?

I mean the technical aspects. Nevertheless, I have already found some helpful information that it is similar to HR-S7600. So it probably has advantages and disadvantages of this model. It arrived today, unpacked, I am testing it. I put in the weakest cassette I have and TBC does a good job -- the image is clearly more stable than when using only DMR-EH585 as passthrough. Unfortunately, I do not have a remote control -- the remote from JVC does not fit, and another one from Philips does not have a menu button. |
Philips VR-1000 (based on the JVC 7600)
Philips VR-1100 (based on the JVC 7700) Philips VR-1500 (based on the JVC 8600) Philips VR-1600 (based on the JVC 8700) there are no directly identical devices from JVC |

Can I find information somewhere about the differences between these JVC series? |

Do you also have the impression that the video from JVC is generally darker than the Panasonic? Below is a sample video from Panasonic NV-HD630 and JVC HR-J672 (S6850 gives similar). Up to 1 min. denoised, after 1 min. without postprocessing.
(passth. via DMR EH585, captured to h264) |

After playing a few tapes I noticed what you can see in the screenshots below. Why is the image from JVC J672 (composite output) so good compared to Philips VR1100 (JVC S7600)?
J672 in Edit mode, S7600 (svideo) does not have such a setting, so I can only turn off 3DNR. (B.E.S.T turned on on both machines) https://imgsli.com/MzA3NzAy |
Huh. I'd have to say the J672 looks much sharper, could be the fact that it's edit mode, but that's more of a difference than I'd have expected. In reality, in edit mode, it isn't trying to do any noise reduction which will often blur some of the detail.
Would you mind posting screen caps of the J672 in each of the other modes vs edit mode? Also what's the full capture chain path for these samples? When you say capture to MP4, is that hardware encoding, or software later? These are PAL models I know, so VHS stills look sharper anyway, haha |

Hi, I'm thinking of buying an aja lhi, which super vhs do you recommend for pal? I give priority to audio, but of course the video must also be good. Another question, if the super vhs has tbc, is it necessary to put dmr es10 in it? Because I think I've read that they are different, and it is necessary even if the super vhs also has tbc, but other comments say the opposite and it confuses me.

Sony SLV-E7
Hi, I just got a Sonny SLV-E7 from my godfather, it's in excellent conditions. It can play both PAL and NTSC.
Is this a good VCR for digitizing my media? |
It's a normal VHS VCR, multi format doesn't make it better, just convenient. For quality capture you need a S-VHS machine with built in line TBC if you can.
