Cleanup and detailing better in steps or at the same time?
 

My question is...
Hope I ask this right.
I have a old TV show that my friend has on vhs, he transfered it to dvd (I don't believe he had any editing/tbc) and the dvd is all I have to work with, I tried going from dvd to 8710 to vidicraft detailer and copy to dvd, then tried dvd to the 8710 and copy, then took that copy and went dvd to vidicraft and copy and it looks to me "maybe" that copy is a little better...maybe it's just my eyes.
My thinking is I like to try things and thought maybe getting a complete time base corrected before detailing, but it shouldn't matter if done all at once or in steps, should it?

Once a video is in digital form, rarely will analog-domain corrections help to improve it. In most cases, you're better off filtering it purely in software. Filtering and improving your video with VirtualDub, for example: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/show...-pre-1727.html

Exporting video from analog back to digital, filtering in the analog domain, and then re-capturing / re-encoding the video, will probably result in minimal enhancements, if any.

It's more likely that quality will be worse, at least in several ways (blocks, noise).
