I found these Prospec processors from Japan

http://www.prospec.co.jp/products/

The google link may not right properly so if it takes you to a page with a yellow button saying DVE, click on it and it displays a spec chart comparing models.

these look good. i will be looking into these more. Purchasing one from Japan is easy. I would probably use Rinkya to get one for me, they are a good site to use for purchasing and forwarding items you want to buy in Japan. Need to find out if they work only with Japan NTSC or can work with USA NTSC and also PAL?

English manuals? need to find that out too.

I'd not get anywhere near those devices.

For starters, the sample images are lies. What they're showing is obviously fake, and it's simply not possible with that level of hardware. If it doesn't explicitly state that it's a TBC, it's not a TBC. There's no evidence anywhere that these do timebase correction. At best, it tries to filter our or ignore certain portions of the signal, and that can still (and often does) result in degraded image quality. Flickering from lighter to darker (semi-sustained) is common.

I also see no proof that these have decent proc amp controls.

Well reading around last night some people outside Japan have bought them and foun they worked. Depends on what you need to do. No everyone need heavy duty processing. The TBC is probably like whats in the Cypress CTB100. Perhaps not the same as big 19 inch rack units but is probably enough to defeat most forms of macrovison and CP. I could certainly see a PCB that size fitting in a case that size. Anyway i saw them and thought i would post it here. it depends on what you need to achieve i guess.

I would always be careful about this. Lots of people claim the various "copy protection removers" (fake TBCs) work, too, but you'll often find the videos transferred with them have lots of issues. The person either is either oblivious (not paying attention) or simply doesn't care. Just look at how many people like the Grex units, yet those devices cause luminance errors, which make the signal shift brightness values every 5 or so minutes. It's not really "removing" anything as much as it's fighting it on-screen.

It's the evil "good enough" syndrome.
But "good enough" isn't the same as excellent quality.

If you do buy it, don't spend more than you're willing to lose, and keep low expectations. Expect to be disappointed.

These are likely just off the shelf Chinese PCBs in a fancy box
.... not much different from the run of the mill Cypress made stuff you can easily get in the USA.
