Hi kpmedia,

I refer to your post on http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide...c-dmr-hs2.html noting that the passthrough sync filters on the ES20 (and even ES15) are not the same as that of the ES10 model.

Would you know if the Panasonic DMR-ES18 model has the same kind of passthrough filters?

The DMR-ES18 is sold in Malaysia. (ref. http://direct.panasonic.com.my/Produ...px/Category/96)

If it does have such filters, I might just try and cross the border into Malaysia to try and get one.

Cheers,
Stephen

My guess is that it has the same features of the ES15. However, I'm not 100% certain.

Sometimes the only way to know is to take a gamble -- buy it and see what happens when it gets a degraded tape signal. That's the way we discovered the functionality of the ES10 units. Our purchase of the ES10 was originally done purely for review purposes, and the unit would have either (1) been kept for home use, or (2) returned to the store for a refund. As it turned out, it ended up an essential tool in the office for 6 or 7 years now.

And then share your findings with others.

Hi kpmedia,

Thanks for the quick reply! :-)

Will keep an eye out for it and first see if it crosses the border into Singapore. :-)

(It did a while back for US$120.)

$120 USD is less than half of what the ES series unit originally cost ($250+)
So I'd definitely buy one at that price.
