Philips VR1100 and 1600 with TBC/NR recommended?

These units are not in the list of recommended VCRs. Is there soomething wrong with them? I have found an offer and I was wondering if I should get one

The Philips VR-1100 and VR-1600 are both JVC clones, and should be fine. It needs to be added to the list, though I thought it was already there. It's been getting worked on recently to add more models, and to better organize the thread.

Hehe! Thank you for the immediate response.

In fact I saw only the Philips VR1000 in the list

Yep, that omission has been addressed. It's listed now. :congrats:

I have a similar vcr the Philips vr1500
Is good?
I have tried some vhsrips
the first really bad with on some scenes the frames becomming totally red!
the second is good..but a lot of framed skipped, and result is bad on some scene is impossible to hear the dialogues..like video was cutted with some editing program.
the third..ok but sometimes a strange "wave" appear on top of screen.
Are my vhs all bad or is a defective vcr?

Philips VR 1100 - which JVC is it equivalent to?
I can buy one, but I don't know if it's worth it.

I'll answer myself -- the Philips VR 1100 is supposedly similar to the JVC HR-S7700.

Does anyone have this Philips model? I need a remote control, information about what the original one was would be useful, even a photo :)*
PS. The JVC remote control doesn't fit.

* - i found it. The remote control model is RT519/101.

I don't think the RT519/101 is the remote control for the VR1100. It's the Philips LP20402-010D :)

You're probably right, but Philips says otherwise (see attachment) :)

However, I managed to buy the LP20402-017A model. There are probably some minor differences, but everything works as it should.

I learned something new today by looking at the Philips manual, The JVC B.E.S.T equivalent is called DSPC by Philips, short for Digital Studio Picture Control, It checks the condition of the tape during recording and playback, then makes adjustments to provide the highest possible picture quality.

My Philips 960B has DPSC, and yes, it is a JVC inside, very similar to the S-4800u.
