JVS S-VHS HR-s3600u or HR-S3900U?
 

I have recently acquired both a HR-s3600u and a HR-S3900U JVC S-VHS unit. Is one better than the other or are they pretty much interchangeable? Based upon reading I believe neither have a built in TBC. The S3900 is from 2001 and the S3600 is a 1999 model. Thanks so much for your recommendations, friends.

These are low-end S-VHS unit, and neither have TBC.
The 3600 is not from 1999. It's from 1996.
The 3800 was new in 1998.
I never saw a 3900, short release window (like 9900), and the 3x00 model was replaced by the cheaper-yet 29x0 models.

The 4x00 tracks close the 3x00 release dates, and the 59x0 replaced 4x00.
The 9x00 was integrated into SR.

Sounds like you are saying there is no difference between the two? I got the dates from the user manual for each respective unit, don't know if they were correct or not.

Correct, there is essentially zero difference between these exact 2 units.
