Sample video/ test patterns for work flow testing.
Hi all,
I had said I was looking for this in a few comments, but I got no responses, so I thought maybe a separate post might grab someones attention. I'll hopefully be testing my setup this weekend and need something to test with. I have a DVD player (which plays videos from a USB stick) with an RGB to S-video converter. I'm going to use this to record a sample tape that I can use to make sure my workflow has no issues. I can check the output at each part of the chain with this and make sure nothing is going wrong (say a bad cable injecting noise or something). Has anyone got any high quality sample videos (preferably royalty free, so I can upload to YouTube) that I can use for this? I'm thinking something that starts with a minute of a test pattern and then a short video sequence. If it matters, my chain is: Samsung DVD player (just for sample generation)-> DATAVIDEO RGB to S-Video converter (just for sample generation)-> PANASONIC NV-HS830B-S VCR-> S-Video cable to -> Panasonic ES10 S-Video cable to -> SAA7133HL S-Video capture card. Thanks for any help! |

Cheers for the sample Boglein!
I feel like there's a major issue with the colour though? It's easiest seen in the white or black colour bars. Here's what the whitebars at 9 seconds should look like: EDIT: FORUM DELETED MY LINK And here's what they appear like on the file: EDIT: FORUM DELETED MY LINK EDIT: Wait, something's wrong here. The test files look better than the original mpeg file. Are the file names wrong? |

This is by no means perfect, but since Bogilein didn't get back to me, I ended up using something else and I thought I'd share it here for anyone else that's in the same situation.
This is 720x576 25fps. |
How looks the original file of your compressed mp4 file? The file is progressive and use a variable frame rate and has other errors.

As I said, it's not perfect, I was just stuck for something. It's being recorded to VHS for testing.
RE you PM, are you absolutely sure the file that's called original on your post is the original? If it is, there must be something wrong with the mpeg decoder on this machine... |
