Datavideo DVK-100 TBC removes Macrovision?

I know that the Datavideo DVK-100 does not have a great TBC but will it defeat the macrovision on vhs tapes?

Yes and no. :hmm:

It will defeat/ignore Macrovision, but the luma gain is a bit high. So you lose some details in highlights, and the darks are pushed brighter. However, with the worst offending MV tapes, it's not unusual to have this with most TBCs. The DVK-100 and -200 are just a tad hotter. You can, however, make some visual foolery by adjusting down contrast, and tweaking up brightness.

It didn't like the worst MV tapes that I have, which can cause tearing, pulsing, etc. But most are probably fine. It's hard to find a TBC that corrects everything perfectly, when it comes to all the MV flavors.
