JVC HR-S9911U remote options?

I have a JVC HR-S9911U that I plan to use for my home video digitalization project. However the remote is long gone, and I'd like to change the options to make it as "pro" as possible. If nothing else, when the TBC is activated, a message comes up center screen that reads "VIDEO CALIBRATION" or something and I'd like to not show that. Remote that came with the vcr was LP20465-015. I can't find any available on ebay at all.

I purchased a replacement remote from remotes.com, but it doesn't work. I know the VCR is receiving an IR signal because when I go through the procedure to change remote modes from A to B, when I push a button on the replacement remote, the VCR acknowledges it gets a signal in mode A.

Anyways, does anyone have any advice on accessing the menu of this vcr?

I stumbled across this older post from lordsmurf: https://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/hom...nu-remote.html. Based on that it appears other JVC remotes may work, however I've also heard that this particular JVC model doesn't play nice with other remotes.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations with this?

Thanks in advance.

Get the JVC LP20303 remote from eBay, about $20 or less. Get a unit with battery cover, images showing it to be clean, no leaked battery acid.

Ok thanks. Does it matter which of the 3 numbers after the LP20303 I get? Not sure what these are for. Should I get the LP20303-015 since the original was a LP20465-015?

I would also like to know this if someone has an answer.

From my observation, the -xxx is just minor release differences. For example, the shape of the battery cover differs. Or a certain button is labeled slightly varied.

The LP20465 is just the LP20303 with a jog dial.
