Recommended PSU for TBC-1000 and AVT-8710?
Hello, group.
By way of introduction, I'm a long time lurker and recent member who's currently in the gear acquisition phase of this endeavor. Not sure if this is the exact sub-forum to post this, but it seemed apropos. As the title suggests, I'm looking for high-quality PSUs for both the TBC-1000 and AVT-8710. I searched for this topic already, but didn't find the info I was looking for. To continue, both came with generic Chinese replacement PSUs, but having read some horror stories, I thought it best to see if there were any specific recommended brands I should be looking for. Are there any U.S.-made adapters out there? Looking forward to increasing my participation with this community. - BetaOrVHS |
Don't do anything until I post again. I need to take some photos.
- It's too easy to screw up the AVT-8710. - The DataVideo TBC-1000 is easy, but I don't want to answer yet, and you'll see why. You were wise to not trust Chinese no-name junk PSUs. |

After everything I have read here about damage to the TBCs (not just accidentally swapping polarities), caused by faulty PSU I decided to use a stabilized transformer PSU 13.8V for both TBCs (those 1.8V extra wouldn't do anything) through the UPS.

However, at least in Cypress, there are only 2 transistors what can be damaged by faulty power supply (my opinion).
8050JD and 8033JD. What they can take with them I do not know. I found those from this seller in China: https://www.ebay.com/itm/372247348684 https://www.ebay.com/itm/152943567961 Because we always prefer original ;) When I receive them I can confirm it is original or not. But price is OK so I bought them as spares. And maybe to replace as prevention. I'm getting real paranoid. Because you can't get anything anymore, if something breaks, you can't fix it, etc. P.S.: 8050JD is Step-Down to 5.0 V, 1.5 A, DC/DC Converter, 7 V to 40 V Input Range. 8033JD is Step-Down to 3,3 V, 1.5 A DC/DC Converter, 5.3 to 40 V Input Range. Protection Functions Overcurrent Protections (OCP): Fold-back Type, Auto-restart Thermal Shutdown (TSD): Auto-restart |
