Your photo shows Windows 8? I figured that 1600 was too old to have Win8 drivers.
There are plenty of hardware MPEG-2 cards that can also be used for lossless AVI capture, though not all. This should be one of them, since VirtualDub recognizes it and says it is outputting uncompressed UYVY. Some of ATI's cards also have unadvertised AVI ability, like the 550. This type of card exposes multiple DirectShow pins, one of which is the MPEG-2 stream and others are the uncompressed signal that VirtualDub can access. You can see this via GraphEdit. The main reason the manufacturer included these outputs is so that the Preview window in their capture app doesn't have latency and compression artifacts. But for us it has added benefits. |
Yeah, using a new OS is rarely going to work correctly. With video hardware, the OS of the time is often the one you must use. That's why so many of us still maintain Windows XP system purely for video capture. Our new systems are for the editing and other daily tasks.
The video systems aren't even online. |

I have written... Setter Y / C + Audio to Pana DMR EH595 [or EH65] output HDMI -----> ----- Splitter---> Blackmagic Studio. 2 [HDMI-in] Capturing VDub or Edius. Direct Y / C to a Blackmagic is wrong ..... TBC missing ... jitter are not corrected. I have equipment for analog in the range of 100'000 Euro. So have a little idea. |

We have a slight language barrier at times, but I'm pretty decent at several languages. I don't often have any understanding issues with your posts. So SOURCE > s-video connection > EH595 recorders (why?) > HDMI connection > BMD Studio 2 (not familiar with this exact model) Use VirtualDub or Canopus/Grass Valley Edius (version?) Quote:
s-video to BMD without TBC in mix would indeed pass any analog horizontal jitter (and dropped frames as well) What I'm not clear on is are you for or against using Blackmagic for VHS/analog capturing. Quote:

Without TBC the BM cards are useless for Analog. Normal I suppose but for capturing the Canopus NX card. Or a Viewcast Osprey 240 e / AJA Kona LHe. http://www.expandore.com/product/Edi...s/NX-PCI_X.htm Have 2 pieces with PCI and 2 PCI-E and additional cards. |

The USB2 we had tested may not realize the full range from 0 to 255. question Can the above your sticks?..................or missing the red area ? see image Thanks for an answer |
Though not originally for sale in EU (and thus PAL), then ATI 600 USB sticks/cards work very well for PAL AVI capturing. It's only the MPEG PAL capturing that is not possible, because the drivers were USA-centric (and thus NTSC centric). The ATI 600 card is not as good as the ATI AIW, and maybe lesser than a few (often obscure) cards. But it's still one of the best available. I often use it for remote work, on a laptop. A JVC SR-V10U and AVT-8710 fit into a nice backpack, with the laptop and USB stick in another nice laptop case.
To get an ATI in Europe, eBay and Amazon are your friends! :) |

eBay is terrible to sell on, but I'll have to admit I use it quite a bit to buy things. And not just from USA sellers, but all over the world. Just last month I got stuff from Italy, France, Germany, China, Japan and Australia. Yeah, it's hard to find a good AVT-8710. If have the older green/black model. I wish I'd have bought more of them! Always feel free to attach videos to posts, so we never lose that part of conversations. It's one reason we upgraded the server to have massive 2tb SAS RAID drives earlier this year. |

I know it was about 2x as much as the ViewSonic, but I don't know that it had 2x worth of performance. For others trying to follow along in this conversation: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...VEOHZ7IQ4TOCHF vs: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...6O2BXYQS5QESTT |
