Checklist for Choosing Hosting - What to look for in new web host
What are some things on the must-have list for choosing hosting?
I know I need to worry about customer service, cost, and space but what are some other things that are important but not something you may think of when purchasing hosting for the first time? |
This was a spammer, and was banned, but the question was good.
Too many people concentrate on price or space. But neither of those are important. Most all standard shared web hosts are $5 to $10 each, and most websites need only a few GB of space. The bigger issue is support. - How quick is support? - How much do you even need support? (The best support desk is the one you never need!) - How experienced are the techs? Are they just kids/amateurs "playing host"? Without somebody intelligent and experienced at the helm, it's not going to work right anyway. The same is true if they're money-grabbing SOBs like EIG (Hostgator, Bluehost, JustHost, iPage, etc) or Godaddy. At those hosts, all of the money is spent on advertising, and nothing is really spent a quality servers and network. |
