Kdvd 704x480 vs 720x480?

KDVD 704X480 VS 720X480?
I noticed that when set to normal speed@704x480 tmpgenc leaves little tiny jaggedy edges on characters in the final output m2v.
(1) What does everyone else use for KDVD? 720 or 704?
(2) Would encoding @ 704 be at all faster with tmpgenc set to normal?
(using the standard 3 or 4 line output AVS from Paranoia)

That's why we use "Fast" mode ;)
You get less jaggedy edges (Gibbs effect)

Compared to high and highest quality settings, yes.
Also, because you are encoding less pixels (704x vs. 720x), your encoding speed will be faster.

Does it maintain same/near same video quality levels if you use Motion estimate search(fast) Vs High Quality(Slow) setting ????? apart from less Gibbs effects as stated by Kwag

Yes it is except in some rare situations that are probably the ones Untouchable encountered.

That is a *really* good new to know!

The default KDVD templates @ http://www.kvcd.net/dvd-models.html are configured to "Highest" :!:
I always used Motion estimate: High Precision (slow)

So it is a waste of time at all! :D

But what about the final file size ? Very/little difference ?

EDIT: Is 704x480 full dvd compliant ? I googled it and did not find 704x480 as standard:

No, I think they are "High"
(MPEG.Video.MotionSearchSpeed = MPEGVideoEncoder_MotionSearchSpeed_HighCQ)

Files are 2-3% bigger in ME then in Hight.
