Yes :) I have read a couple already :).
And I'm saving some for tomorrow ;-)
Hope everything is ok with that hurricane alert.
Cheers

Karl,

This is the third time since you moved the site that i receive this page just when I want to post a message :
--
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, karl@softronex.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
--

Not really a problem, just have to do a "back" then post again.

EDIT: a fourth time right now when I tried to retrieve the list of last posts :-(

Hi Karl,
This "Internal error" thing happened to me last night.
But I was logged on for a big amount of time: maybe it happened to me a dozen times and it's right when
you ask to submit a post.
At least to me it seemed like a pattern.
Also the forum was down for ~1hour at 5 or 6 am here, but maybe it was backing up or something?
Cheers

Hi guys,

Thanks for the reports.
Yes, I've seen the internal error (too many times too!), and I'm filling a report on the hosting.
Today, I haven't seen it yet, but it's beginning to worry me.
As I posted on another thread, this provider gives 30 days guaranteed money back, if the customer is not satisfied.
So in a three week time, if these problems continue on a daily basis, I'll make arrangements to move to another hosting.
I really hope this doesn't happen, because the tools/price/features at canaca are just perfect for the job.
But hey, maybe it's because their servers run Linux and not *BSD
http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/...www.canaca.com
Please keep me informed of any anomalies you see, so I can document them.

Thanks,
-Karl

Internal Server Error twice the last hour. No big deal, refresh fixed it.
Earlier today I wasn't able to connect to the forum though (Connection Time-Out)...

This people at canaca.com S U C K :!:
DO NOT GET A HOSTING THERE :!:
They had the site shut down due to PHP overload :!: :!:

Sorry, but I have to express myself.

THIS IS **B U L L S H I T**

I told them that we have a MAX of ~20GB of traffic per month, and they sell their account for 80GB per month, and NOWHERE in the site policy says anything about simultaneous users/resources, which is what they are complaining.

So, back to work and evaluating another hosting, as probably by tomorrow they will shut us down again, and it they do, I will secure shell into the system, make a full database backup, and move it to another hosting immediately.
Sorry for all the hassle people

I just talked to a technical representative at www.bluehost.com ( this site has excelent reviews) and I asked SPECIFICALLY about their system resources, secure shell, etc., and he was actually amazed at what canaca did to us, after I explained the problem.
He guaranted that those issues are NOT going to happen at that hosting, so it seems that I'll probably be shutting the forum tomorrow night for a full backup, and then transfering all data to bluehost.com.
The price is about the same, with slightly less bandwidth per month ( 70Gigs instead of 80 gigs), and that's not an issue.
So, that's it for now.
Remember, if you see the forum down, check www.kvcd.net for any news.
As I see it, I'm getting to be an expert doing backup/restore and moving web sites around the world

But not kidding :!:
All of canaca.com runs on Linux :!:

kwag 08-31-2004 11:07 PM

Account opened at bluehost.com :!:
 Currently ftp'ing (uploading) full site.
Tomorrow I'll lock the forum, so I can make a backup, and then I'll transfer to the new host.

The temporary address will be: http://209.63.57.146/~kvcdnet
I will hard link that address on the portal, until the name servers update (which usually take 24-36 hours)

So that's it :!:
Bye www.canaca.com, it was a very unpleasant 3 day stay :?

I've administered plenty of Linux systems that never went down. Ever. No matter what the system load. They obviously need to upgrade their servers...

Yes, I know :)
These people definitely have a problem :!:
I mean, if they can't handle a load of ~60 to ~80 users on line, that's pretty weak :!:
What pisses me off is that there's no mention about system resources on their agreement. Just plain 80GB of transfer per month.
Which means that it's a false advertisement, because if they have limited resources, then nobody can ever reach the 80Gigs a month.
I asked that specific question at bluehost.com, and they assured me that this is not a problem on their site, and as a matter of fact, they are getting many users from ipowerweb.com (the site where kvcd.net was previously hosted), just because of limited tools, like secure shell which is a must for kvcd.net.
I'm sure that canaca will again shut the site tomorrow, so I'm not going to give them any chances now.
I've started the ftp upload, and tomorrow I'll close the forum and close the canaca account.
I should have read the reviews, before taking someone's word for it.
canaca was recommended by someone where I'm doing some work during the week. I'll have some news for him tomorrow

But I still like *BSD anytime, before any Linux distro
~10 years with FreeBSD wears very well

I bet they have a "we reserve the right to shut down your site at any time" clause though. If they don't, we'll all file a class-action lawsuit! ;)

And I also have the "Reserved right to shut down the site at any time and at any hosting, without notification", and move quickly to another host :D
We are now running on bluehost.com ;)
Hopefully, I'll be able to get some sleep now 8O

Thanks Vinucius :D
The hell with canaca.com
That's the worst hosting I've ever seen :!:
I'm also closing the kvcd.net with them tonight :!:
I'm already uploading the portal (kvcd.net) to the same host on bluehost.com, where KVCD.Net is now hosted, and then I'll do a forwarding to "cloak" www.kvcd.net  www.kvcd.net/portal ;)

Grrrrreat :D
Just posted there on the Mencoders forum.
Thank you so much for hopening it again Karl.
BTW this new provider seems to be very good in terms of speed/reliability.
Just hope it's as cheap as canaca ;-).
Thanks for all the hard work you've been going through on the last week, Karl.
You're, really, da man 8)
Cheers
