Wanted: VCR and TBC
 

Looking for a VCR and TBC for VHS conversions. Both need to be in great working condition. Anyone have any to sell? I've searched eBay on all the "suggested" models and have a few I am watching, but would rather find something through this forum.

I have the best units you can buy. Both Ag-1980's and JVC 9000 series and super high end betamax.

+1 to Deter's offer for VCRs, he has a good reputation for refurbishing and selling top quality machines.

For a TBC, contact lordsmurf and he may be able willing to sell one of his spares.

I use these kind of machines to record but never to play back video tapes. Record in FR120 mode. Have a bunch of MV5's and a MV1, they always break down and it is always the DVD recorder that is why I have so many of them. You do have a string of these machines that have an autoloading problem, but over the years have gotten pass that issue so it is not a problem for me.

The high end JVC stuff aka the 9000 series all have TBC's built in and they have DigiPure which cleans the picture. The 9000 series and the AG-1980 are the best. Anything else you will not get as good as a transfer. A perfect working AG-1980 you can basically use for just about everything. Every once in a while depending on the tape the JVC will produce a better picture.

The AG-1980's which are fully rebuilt and the best on the market selling for $1200 (They will last for a really long time used a special string of high quality caps on these and replaced every single one in the unit)

Repaired a few AG-1970's for members of this site, they are not bad machines, they are pretty good. The difference being they have no video card. The AG-1980 that I try to get in are the AG-1980P's they are better machines than the early release of this model.

FYI This is crazy but the producer who did the 1st new Disney Star Wars movies purchased two of the JVC decks from me. That kind of says it all, that these are good machines. Also had a Pro-VHS transfer shop come in an buy 3 Rebuilt 1980's. Yes the prices have gone up, cause it cost more to rebuilt the AG-1980's. Doing them a little bit different than in the past, it takes a lot longer. The JVC units can't get them in, in the past had a wholesaler sell me a bunch of them that were broken and fixed them all, it is harder to find them.
