Best way to fix out-of-sync audio?

What's the best way to fix out of sync audio? I downloaded a few videos, converted them in convertx and when I burned them to DVD, the audio was out of sync by a few seconds..

When did it go out sync? What step?
Was the download OOS, or was the post-ConvertX OOS, or was the burned DVD OOS?

I honestly don't know what step......it was from a torrent. I downloaded it, then converted it in ConvertX (it never said there was any errors, or that it was out of sync or anything like that during the conversion process) then as soon as I was done with that, I burned it in ImgBurn.

Could the DVD burner possibly cause that?

Play it after each step.
- Download, play.
- Convert, play.
- Burn, play on computer. (Use VLC.)

I've had this problem with several DVDs I've made doing it this way....close to 10, I'd say..

Will I need specific programs to fix this problem?

Q: Will I need specific programs to fix this problem?
A: No

We need to see where the problem starts. See my post above.

I'm currently checking a DVD that I just made. It was 5 seperate video files that I loaded into ConvertX & there was no audio problems after I downloaded it & after it converted, so I just have to test the burnt DVD now.

Question...can audio out of sync problems occur because you're doing stuff online as the video is converting in convertx and/or as it's burning in ImgBurn?

Q; Can audio out of sync problems occur because you're doing stuff online as the video is converting in convertx and/or as it's burning in ImgBurn?
A; Not really.

It sounds like the authoring software is the weak link, as it's the only step left. What is it? Play the authored/burn folders on the computer, not the DVD, to eliminate the DVD burning step. Assuming you didn't delete the folders yet.

While rare, some DVD players can cause this. I've not seen this is year now, so I doubt that's it. Either that, or you're using a really old DVD player with this problem.

Superstar 07-18-2013 03:55 PM

I'm not using any authoring software. Once it's done in ConvertX, I take it into ImgBurn & just burn it from there. I'm currently watching my DVDs on my Xbox, because my DVD player died, so that's why I was asking about the Blu Ray players.

Do you think I should bring it into an authoring software once it's done in Convert X, before I burn it in ImgBurn, or do you think the way I'm doing it is alright?

Have the tried a real DVD player, not an XBOX?
Is it the first XBOX or the 360? The first one was never really any good with media files or DVDs, just games and emulators.

Superstar 07-18-2013 04:44 PM

I don't have a real DVD player at the moment. Mine just stopped working out of no where. It's the Xbox 360.

Another problem I've noticed is, the DVD(s) sometimes freezes as I'm watching it. Could this be a problem with the player (the 360), or something else?

lordsmurf 07-18-2013 09:47 PM

It could be the media. i.e. inferior media But if the media is good (Verbatim MCC/MKM, Taiyo Yuden, etc) it's the players.

Media does not cause sync issues. I bet the XBOX is failing, between the sync issues and the freezing. Again, the included DVD player has never been any good. Some of the hacked players may be better, but the stock on is lousy. Even the hacked XBMC is kind if crappy. I have a classic XBOX, too -- a hacked one -- and it's only good for playing XBOX games and emulators.

I notice that a few of them seem to be going out of sync after the conversion in ConvertX. It plays in sync before the conversion. Unfortunately, I can't seem to open the converted file in a video player, because after it converts in ConvertX, it creates the video & audio TS folders, but they won't open the video player. I tried the hold CTRL + A, but it still wouldn't work.

So, I can't be for sure that the audio is going out of sync during the conversion process, but I think it is. If that's when it does happen, how can I fix it?

lordsmurf 07-23-2013 04:23 AM

ConvertXtoDVD is best with high-quality files, almost all of which are going to be primetime shows from modern TV. If there's an issue, it may be with the source. For example, VBR audio. Is it older shows? Or something along those lines.

Superstar 07-24-2013 01:38 PM

Yeah, the video files that seem to be out of sync with audio the most is from a show that's from 1998. It's weird, because on most shows from this set, the audio is almost always in sync for the first 30 mins to hour into the show, then for the last hour of the show (it's a 2 hr. show) that's when the audio seems to go out of sync..
