These is one of the "daily tools" I use, so I don't want it to go away ;) -kwag |
What makes this tool better than, for example, Nero?
|
Hi Luis,
Nero is simply bloated. I remember long time ago using Nero and it was simply an amazing tool because it had a great burning engine (core) and because it was kept easy and simple. Nowadays Nero is loosing popularity among those that care to make real-life tests with it. A recent article found on the internet made a simple comparison between Nero, DVDDecrypter "burning engine" (a.k.a. ImgBurn) and another piece of software (maybe ImgTool Burn). The winner was DVDDecrypter. They used software tools to measure the amount of burning "errors" burnt on the DVDs, the burning speed, etc. So, I'll keep using DVDDecrypter "burning engine", that is ImgBurn :), because it's easy, fast, accurate and cheap ;-). And for mastering general purpose data DVDs, I'll keep on using Nero or whatever other tool available. There is a freeware tool that is slick and does the job. The name is burn-at-once but it has been discontinued... But even without any updates it has always worked fine with me. For audio CDs I use Burrrn, another free and slick tool that has never let me down. You know I hate software that eats memory even though I have a 1Gig RAM and Nero is simply one of those hungry tools... Cheers |
Thanks.

YouĞre welcome, Luis :).

Hello everyone :D
What are you using to CREATE an ISO image (that will be burnt with IMGBURN) ? By creating an ISO, I mean, both ways: FROM a DVD to HD, and FROM a FOLDER to HD. FROM FOLDER to HD I fond this one(freeware that uses MKISOFTS): http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareFolder2Iso.html FOLDER2ISO thanks best regards |
Hi Sparkster,
I don't know if I catch the DVD to HD and FOLDER to HD. Do you mean DVD to HD and HD to ISO/DVD? If that's the case: DVD to HD - DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.2 Free HD to ISO - ImgTool Classic 0.91.6 (just browse until you find the classic version ;-)) ISO to DVD - ImgBurn 1.1.0.0 Well, as a matter of fact I still haven't used ImgBurn 1.1.0.0. I have been using ImgBurn 1.0.0.0 with very good results, though. Oh, one more thing. ImgTool Classic is actually an MKISOFTS frontend just as FolderToISO. But if you combine ImgTool Classic with ImgBurn you can actually do HD to DVD without having to do HD to ISO and ISO to DVD. That's because ImgTool Classic has a feature that enables the ISO to be recorded using DVDDecrypter.exe. Since ImgBurn.exe is actually DVDDecrypter's burning engine, ImgTool Classic can act as an ImgBurn frontend as well. Hope I did understand what you meant to ask :?. Cheers |
@rds_correia
Hello. Well. I would like to know programs for general purpose on creating ISO files. Please see http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/ - ULTRAISO, especially its Main Features: Quote:

Hi sparskter :),
Nice avatar :D. Sorry but I still don't see "where you're going". I have only used UltraISO once or twice and that was to include some last minute files that I had forgotten in a ISO file. And I did it because the project was not a critical one. Be advised that UltraISO uses technology that can't be prooved to be trust worthy because the ISO format lacks a lot of documentation. I wouldn't use UltraISO on all my DVD projects because of that. The authors of the tool even advise you of that. Nevertheless I don't see why you brought UltraISO to the talking. I'm affraid you'll have to be more verbouse with me . Cheers |

Oh, now I see...
You'd like to be able to use ImgBurn to burn every DVD wether it's data/audio/video. Well, then I really don't know what tool you can use . In fact UltraISO is the only tool I know that can do that. Well, almost every burning software nowadays can be set to create an ISO instead of burning. Even burn-at-once freeware can create ISOs since it comes bundled with MKISOFTS. So you can take one of those burning software, load your files on it, ask for an ISO and burn with ImgBurn. Would that be what you're looking for? Cheers |

For Data:
GhostBurn: http://ghosthunter.6x.to/ Visual ISO: http://cdr.dpaehl.de/ Folder2ISO: http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareFolder2Iso.html For authored DVD: "PGCEdit" http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html "ImgTool Classic 0.91.6" http://www.coujo.de/ib2/index.php?ac..._name=download all freeware. Did not test everyone (only GhostBurn & Folder2ISO & PGCEdit and I burnt only ISO created from PGCEdit & UltraISO until the present day) thought. Still "hunting" more :D |
Imgtool classic does an ISO and needs something else to burn it. I use it with DVDDecrypter (that it can call automatically).
|
The latest ImgTool Classic can also call ImgBurn :D

I love that combo :D. |
OT: am I nut or does Imgburn miss a "Read ISO" mode ? I wanted to use it to copy a DVD last week, and I finally had to use DVDDecrypter insteed.
|
Errmm, not meaning to say you're nut or anything Phil :D but even yesterday I burnt an ISO with ImgBurn.
Some people even think it only works with ISOs but that's not right, it's already compliant with Alcohol MDS, CCD, etc... Cheers |
I guess the program is only for burning, not for creating an iso file.
