Avisynth: Peach Smoother?

Kwag,

How good is Peach Smoother speed and quality?

In another thread you were using it with these options...

PeachSmoother(NoiseReduction=45,Stability=15,Spati al=70,NoiseLevel=4.8,Baseline=3.2)

Thanks...

PeachSmoother is great!!!! It is way faster than FaeryDust but with comparable results. If you use the PeachSmoother(READOUT=TRUE)option, two numbers show up in your output video file that tell you your average noise and the lowest noise it saw in the video. You can then manually set your NoiseLevel and Baseline settings using these numbers, to speed it up even more, instead of having PeachSmoother automatically figure out the noise while it is encoding.

Hi KingTuk,

The values I used were the ones that were used by the person who evaluated the filter over at doom9. Now I'll use the "(READOUT=TRUE)" option as recommended by digitalize ( thanks digitalize!)
That's what I get for not RTFM

Hey guys, would substituting this filter for Spacedust and Fluxsmooth in conjunction be a good idea, or would I see a drop in detail??

Don't use Peach. Read the comments on it's flaws here in the forum.

Bummer.

Thanks, Kwag

From Doom9.org

"If the programmer of Peach has any time to look at anything, a bug has been noticed in Peachsmoother where some objects remain stationary when they should be moving very slightly..."
Reply:
"You’re seeing the standard behavior where the Peach is really, really sure that there’s no motion. Usually that means the noise estimate is off — Take a look at the docs on the “dot” option and on the “I’m seeing lots of blurring...” question."

Hey digitalize, have a look at this thread in the KDVD forum: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=21284 . It seems that no amount of peach-parameter-tweaking will make the vertical-movement problems disappear....it's built-in. But I hope Lindsey throws some more sugar on that Peach of his, 'cause it certainly has some sweet potential. Dust is a better filter qualitywise for the time being though.

Hi dazed&confused,

You're 100% correct :!:
I've tried every parameter, and any way I try them, I still get flaws on vertical movement. There's something wrong with the filter, and no matter what parameters I try, the effect is still there.
