Need help with DSL problems
@Kwag,
For 3 weeks my DSL connection has been flawless and always working. Today I'm using 56k POTS, due to what Verzion says is a defective DSL modem :? I miss VOIP phone calls, getting calls while working on the Net. My question, is there diagnostic software that can help me locate the problem :?: i.e., modem, router, dsl line, etc. Verizon is over nighting another modem (could also be bad). I need software tools to help narrow these problems :) Westell doesn't seem to be very reliable. The go down so quickly and Verizon warned me if I get my own modem they won't support me via their tech support :mad: -BP |
Hi BP,
Can you borrow a neighbour's DSL modem, and connect it to your line :idea: :?: That way you can find out if the problem is your modem, or the PCM/ADSL circuitry to your house. If the modem connects, you know the problem is your modem. DSL accounts are not tied to a specific line. Authentication is done like PPP (point-to-point protocol), so your neighbour's modem will log on from your phone line too. Edit: In the mean time, how about using one of your neighbour's open access points :mrgreen: -kwag |

@Kwag,
Trying AirSnort for Windows: http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/AirSnort If you used this let me know :?: :idea: -BP |
Hi BP,
Haven't tried it in a very long time, but I've been told it's not as flexible as the "aircrack" tools. I think that packet injection is not possible in airsnort, because "aireplay" is not available for Windows. Only for Linux. -kwag |
