Can be the 60fps to 25fps conversion done within mencoder?
 

I already asked something similar in Optimal Scripts subforum.
The video was shot with a digital photo camera, in .mov format and 60fps.
I managed to convert it to .avi still at 60fps.
Tried just putting -ofps=25.000 in the command-line, but it didn't work (plays slow-motion).
Any suggestion?.

As I told you in the "optimal scripts" forum, a source mov of 60 fps sounds really odd!

In mencoder (as I know) an internal quicktime decoder engine is integrated, means if the mov source is correctly done, a normal encoding to its 29.97 is possible.

to get these 29.97 to pal you got TWO options.

- 1. via a fieldbased conversion incl. blendings where a 25fps as still interlaced would come out :arrow: I do think only avisynth can handle that.

- 2. via Scharfis_Brains 60ito24p function using a FULL fieldrate deinterlacer before, to get that stream to 23.976 progressive incl. motionblur effect = Filmlook.
These 23.976 will be then pitched up to 25.000 incl pitching up the sound for shure. :arrow: Also here only avisynth can handle that.

So the way via "makeavis" in that case IMHO is unevitable.

I understood aproximately less than half your post. As I'm in a PAL land (BTW, what about you?) I never read a thing about framerate and conversions.
So,
TMPGenc (yes, I know, not to believe much in it related to this...) says that my 29.97fps avi file is progressive non interlaced...
am I supposed to just use avisource and convertFPS(25.000) in my script (since I want to give mencoder sab a try), or do I use some other kind of script?.
I won't have audio synch problems, since it's a photo camera video, without audio...

Do watch the mov using i.E. Videolan player.

If its combed then its a real 29.97 NTSC VIDEO stream (and if its a hollywoodmovie then it has been Telecined).

If theres NO combing, then do the TmpgEnc/Huffyuv way but setting 23.976fps as output .

BTW: Im in Germany and got 50Hz electricity, therefore I deal with 50fields per second at 625 lines which are 25 Frames per second ..... and so ..... I got the luck NOT to suffer from NTSC :lol:

I don't think it's a hollywoodmovie (even the "actor", my son, deserves it, or better), it was filmed with a photo camera.
I converted as you advised from 60fps to 29.97fps in TMPGenc, and I don't see anything wrong (when I loaded the 60fps avi in mencoder, the output was in "slow motion").
So you advise me to do it to 24 fps instead, and then convertFPS via avisynth, isn't it?
Wouldn't it be better to make the hole procces within avisynth?. Loading the 60fps avi and then 60fps to 24 fps and then convertFPS, I mean. (I accept suggestions, I don't have idea at all).
Well, it has even more merit to understand so many things about a thing you don't need to use continuedly...
