DVD2SVCD: choppy or jerky playback

the last couple of months i have been getting choppy/jerky play back and head3ach does not create the encoded_audio_1.mp2 file and i have to do it manualy but even then i always have a bad playback. all my problems are all tied together. to get a better understanding please read all my unanswered posts. thanx to any wonderful person or people that can help or solve my problems.

jorel 07-03-2004 07:43 PM

weel....
headac3he in d2s works using sweethead only...are you using sweethead?
we need more details about "choppy/jerky play back" and "i always have a bad playback" cos
 have thousands ways to get bad results and only one way to good results.

 why don't you post the link to your unanswered posts, then we don't have to search it all!

thanx jorel and pro for responding. i started using dvd2svcd using the defalt settings and made like three perfect cd's but then i tried Phil's script adding them in avisinth.ini then i tried installing the proper dll's. this is where every thing went wrong. ok here it goes
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11612
this topic pretty much is why it does not create the .tpr file and how do i solve this.
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11629
this is asking specificly after i figured out what was wrong but not solved
so i gave up then i switched to facar using bazzy's guide
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11808
facar worked ok for the first encode (i think) then started getting choppy/jerky playback then i tried installing the proper dll's needed for Phil's script. then started getting choppy playback again
P.S. managed to save a script from the dvd2svcd log menu

hey Pro,
he wrote "unanswered posts" and not " unanswered threads". better is let password show us where are this posts with links...then everybody that want to help don't need to search like you did, right?
...posting all unanswered links, password is helping the "helpers".
think: if (yes,IF) he have 5 unanswered posts and ten members want to help, this "helpers" will need to do the same search.

edited> hey, he posted the links "seconds" before my post.

just like to say thanx for helping me :D
P.S. i made a few good kvcd's before without maually installing it (i think)

jorel 07-03-2004 10:01 PM

yes, works perfect!...you don't knew that?
 important: sweethead don't work with "use frame selection" in D2S.

get it here and follow the Kwag's instructions:

thanx jorel i will give it a shot .
P.S. is this going to solve the choppy playback? also i just realized when i
had to make my mp2 manually it was at 48khz instead of 44.1khz is that maybe the problem for jerky playback for kvcd cause i heard someone say 48khz has to be with skvcd

bazzy2004 07-04-2004 06:50 AM

no its 44.1 with kvcd n ksvcd

bazzy2004 07-04-2004 06:52 AM

o n check the other thread, i replied but late, sorry.. check your elementry files, no need for sweet head, becuz u r using the kvcd plugin, as i presume, i also recomend to stick with default besweet.

anyway check your elementry files, see if they are jerky.

not always bazzy(not a law) ....my 3 players suport 44k and 48k in all cases(kvcds, Ksvcds and Kdvds(of course))...i encode "everything" in 48k!
depend of the standalone player and deserve little tests cos the file size is the same but 48k sounds better!

password 07-04-2004 04:10 PM

i use the kvcd plugin so do i still use sweethead?

bazzy2004 07-04-2004 04:49 PM

dont use sweethead, just stick with besweet, should be able to select it wen choosing the kvcd resolution with the plugin

password 07-05-2004 01:25 PM

should i install d2s under C:\ and not C:\programs?

bazzy2004 07-05-2004 01:49 PM

i dont think thats your problem, but if you want go ahead

password 07-05-2004 03:11 PM

thanx
P.S. do you think i can put subs in using facar?

bazzy2004 07-05-2004 04:27 PM

tell you the truth, i never tried, give it a go, n tell me how it goes, should work...

good luck

ps. after such a long time, i decided to use autofitcd plugin, available from http://www.dvd2svcd.org

follow the kdvd guide, n u'll understand how to use that instead of facar.

kdvd guide is on the kvcd guide page, but the link is at the top!!

good luck once again

password 07-05-2004 04:43 PM

thanx bazzy but i am going to use facar but maybe next time i will use autofit

password 07-06-2004 01:52 PM

:ole: hurrray i found out why the movie was playing jerky/choppy it is because my player does not support 48khz it supports only 44.1khz. i been encoding perfectly but muxing with the wrong sound for the last few months so i tried encoding at 44.1khz and it works perfect. is there a way to unmux a video already burned (encoded) on a cd and mux with a different mp2 file?
P.S. sorry i did not encode with subs like iwas supposed to but, what is everybody's opinons, settings, and technics on encoding with subs. and what is the difference beween facar and autofit? i dont like change but i will if i have to?

bazzy2004 07-06-2004 02:08 PM

1 - use vcd gear from vcdgear.com, to rib the mpeg from the vcd. then use tmpgenc, and mpeg tools, simple de-multiplex (files -> mpeg tools -> demultiplex) then convert the audio from 48khz to 44.1khz, using any audio conversion tool.

2 - well dont know about subs, but do know about facar, and autofitcd - since we had quite a long discussion about it.

facar cuts off wot is not normally seen on tv. the overscan area.
autofitcd resizes n crops the video, accordingly using prescise measurements, keeping the correct aspect ratio. also tends to be faster for encoding - since its only uses the bicubic resize, follow the kdvd guide i linked u too, u will notice, its a lot smaller scirpt to copy-paste n does work faster (thats why i swtched, as well as other advantages)

try it, u'll be impressed..

Bazzy :)

thanx bazzy i do not feel like encoding again so awsome tip. i will try it right now and i will swith to autofit. thanx everyone

password 07-06-2004 03:16 PM

my audio convertion tools dont work. what do you recomend and how do i resample it from 48khz to 44.1khz? thanx

Dialhot 07-06-2004 03:17 PM

Headac3che or besweet.

password 07-06-2004 03:22 PM

thanx Phil but the one i ripped from the cd did not work in headac3he cause it said it had an error but luckily i had it saved. thanx

bazzy2004 07-06-2004 04:33 PM

goldwave - soundforge gr8 tools, not free though.

give besweet a go, with the gui. but headache is normally better...

also try

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

with the mp2 codec plug in

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-mp2.htm

works very well, u can easily use tht, integrates into windows shell, and just right click on the file, convert to mp2. then choose the sampling rate.

its quite easy, u'll see...

Bazzy

when i convert dat to mpeg and de mux the video then run it through bbmpeg do i insert the Intra.mtr and the Non-Intra.mtr like it would happen normally ? because i did all that and the file size is smaller than the other first movie.
aren't they supposed to be the same size?
P.S. i encoded an asian movie and i wanted the original language with english subs (used facar) but, when i play the movie on my PC there's no subs. how can i add subs

password 07-09-2004 04:00 PM

i just realized i want to do perm subs and was not specific what i wanted(cause most players dont support sub switching on and off) can anybody help me?
P.S. bazzy, do i do exactly what your kdvd guide tells me, and switch the size of the movie to 800 mb? and your doing a dvd and mine says vcd (on the top of the window) but i want to do a skvcd. so what settings do i do exactly?

bazzy2004 07-09-2004 04:11 PM

u can do a skvcd or vcd using that guide, go into misc settings, and change the output to svcd or vcd. the d2sroba plugin should then be restarted (pop up message will appear when settings changed) n then u do the rest accordingly. should be easy

bear in mind, tht ppl have sed mpeg1 with cce is not as good as tmpgenc, yet mpeg 2 is loads better with cce.

i recommend cce if doing kdvd or skvcd, but tmpegenc, wen doing kvcd

n yes, change the skvcd or kvcd size to 800

Definitely NOT for low bitrate, I'm sorry. I use CCE also for DVD but never for SVCD.

Read again your question, the answer is hidden in it.

password 07-10-2004 01:02 PM

it's because of facar so if i used your script i would not have this problem?

Dialhot 07-10-2004 01:48 PM

You shouldn't, even if a suprise is always possible.

password 07-12-2004 07:33 PM

thanx phil i will try in the next few days
P.S. how to i put perm subs

Dialhot 07-13-2004 03:31 AM

You can't. That's a choice to do.
If you need sub + my script, drop D2S (it has NO add value for KVCd btw) and do all by hand.

I removed again D2S from my PC after a fast test of Roba method. I dont use anymore D2S and I won't in the near future.

password 07-13-2004 05:00 AM

thanx Phil but, i would do by hand but i dont know exactly how to make a script and where all the lines go and stuff. like blockbuster.dll has to be on a certain line (like line 10). avisynth.org does not explain in detailed information. where would i go or how do i find out exactly what to do?
