total movie time is less than actual total time

i encode with tmpegenc 2.52.xxx im encoding avis i have extracted the audio with a decompressor other that headac3he or besweet or gui im using the template kvcd-cq-352x240-_ntscfilm-_plus.mcf from the kvcd templates folder now this is the problem im trying to encode tombraider 2 i have extracted the audio so i go to tmpeg and try to encode but i dont get the rigth amount for total time of movie play this movie is about 117 minutes long but after encoding i only get 51 minutes if movie play time instead of the 117 minutes that i should be getting what could be the problem.

51 minutes of playtime where :?:
In the DVD player's display :?:
That's usually caused because you encoded MPEG-1 VBR, and standalone players don't understand MPEG-1 VBR in VCD format.
Did you drag your MPEG file into Vdub, and check that the complete movie is indeed there :?:

when i go to burn in nero it says the total time on the bottom and it says 51 mins total time and should i not be doing it VBR

When you muxed your audio and video streams, did you mux as:
"MPEG-1 Video-CD Non-Standard" :?:

yeah the total time is 51 minutes of movie play instead of the 117 minutes that i should be getting and i have followed your guides that you posted on weehet .com(Kwag). and that is not only with tomb raider 2 is also doing it to other movies it appears that is only encoding half of the movie. what could be the problem

Enerjr 10-25-2004 10:09 PM

Can you explain how to do that of the muxing thing?

kwag 10-25-2004 10:21 PM

Open TMPGenc, click on the "MPEG Tools" menu option, then Multiplex, and choose the option "MPEG-1 Video-CD Non-Standard" "after" you add your audio and video streams.

ok so i use virtualdub to extract the video and audio so i get a m1v for the video an i should get a wav file for the sound but then how do i convert the wav file to mp2 what program do i use ive tried headac3he and besweet and gui which i think is the worst i you can explain please these steps i would really appreciate it

kwag 10-25-2004 10:58 PM

Take a look at this guide: http://www.kvcd.net/guides/kguide/kvcdguide.htm
Which explains step by step the audio encoding process, with HeadAC3he.
Specially here: http://www.kvcd.net/guides/kguide/kv...ep_3._Encoding

Edit: Just make sure you check the "Resample to: 44.1Khz" option.

yeah but this guide uses the moviestacker and i dont have the moviestacker

kwag 10-25-2004 11:18 PM

We're talking about audio encoding, and multiplexing :!:
You don't need MovieStacker for that :!:

oh ok so then again how do i split the audio and the video what programs do i need

Enerjr 10-26-2004 05:49 AM

ok so i have split the audio and video with virtualdub first i did the audio--->full precessing mode, then compression--->no compression (pcm) clicked on that and saved as .wav then i used headac3he to convert from wav to mp2 and got a file of about 650MB for the sound. Then i did the video but first i went to the audio tab and set it to no audio, then i for the video i went with direct stream copy and save as avi and got a 375MB file size for the video. But then when i went to tmpegenc to simple multiplex i added the video but when i tried adding the audio it say "illegal mpeg stream"

You can stop all your actual actions. The time reported by Nero has NOTHIGN to do with the playing time of the video. It is just related to the size in megabytes of the mpeg file you want to put on the disc.

51 minutes means that your file is near 510 MB. In other words, your mpeg does not use all the place allowed on the CD (807 MB).

You must learn how to determinate the correct CQ to encode your movie because you used a CQ too low.

Look for CQMatic, here on the forum.

Enerjr 10-26-2004 06:22 AM

so what would be the most common cq for a movie 117 min long with the kvcd template to make it fit into on cd-r

There is no common CQ. The CQ must be determinated for each source. That is where tools like CQMatic can help you.

ok i have used cqmatic for getting the right cq calculation and it encoded the video using tmpeg but it came out with no audio do i have to decompress the audio first and if i do with what programs can i do that cause ive tried virtualdub to split video and audio but when it comes to the audio i use headac3he to encode it to mp2 but when it comes to multiplex i get an illegal mpeg audistream. what can i do......

rds_correia 10-27-2004 01:31 AM

This seems very close to double posting.
Please try to post all the questions regarding this particular encoding in the same thread ;-)
Also, have you tried encoding a DVD source instead of a AVI?
It's better to start with VOB files, you know?
Cheers
