Moving from ksvcd to kdvd

i was converting to ksvcd, but now i bought a DVD-RW and i wanna create 4-5 movies on same dvd, what is the diffrence between this 2 ?

The audio must be 48Khz. And the video resolution should be 352*480(576) or 704(576) only. All other resolutions aren't standard on DVD and all standalones won't play them. But you can try them with your own player.

Note: now you are on DVD, let change your quality level and do not go above 3 movies per disc.

hi phil

so all the process is the same, just use a kdvd template and dvd resolution in the script ?

make 3 movie ready and then put them all on dvd using VCDEasy creating menu for choosing a movie ?

All is the same except that you won't use VCDEasy for authoring the disc (it can do DVD) but something like DVDLabPro (free for 30 days) or tmpgenc DVD author...

assuming you used video at that resolution and audio at 48khz, can you just remux it and burn it to a dvd?

You don't even have to remux manually : open directely the MPEG into DVDLabo pro or an other authoring tool and they will remux them while they add the menu and do the DVD structure.

i understand that the conversion process is similar, but the autoring and burning is diffrent, i dont realy know how to use DVD-Lab (or other autoring tool) can anyone help ?

Dialhot 11-08-2004 08:15 AM

Help you first and then we will :!: I mean : DL the tools, open then and if you have questions, ask.

DVDLabo pro is a little bit touchy but you have a complete help on Mediachance site (http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/tutorial/index.html).

TMGEnc is nothing but Drag/Drop and use of pre-defined templates.

If your target is a regular DVD (4.7GB), choose 4.7GB (DVD-5)

Or if you want to put 2 or 3 movies on the DVD, just use the custom size with what you want.

hi

i want to use 1 DVD for 4-5h of movie so the quality will be good, i didnt understand how to do the calculation in CQ, its diffrent from the ksvcd that i used to do cuz now its not 1 movie and kdvd, i want 2-3 movies

kwag 11-12-2004 10:44 AM

Hi cyron,

It's simple :)
Add the total time of your movies and enter that information into CalcuMatic.
For example, if your total time is 5 hours (300 minutes), and you want the audio to be 192Kbps (for all movies), this is what you would enter in CalcuMatic:

That's the average bitrate you want to use to encode all of your movies :)
Then they will all fit on one DVD.

thanks for the help. 8)

ill make some testing, its the best way for learning.

cyron 11-12-2004 12:34 PM

1800 kbps is much higher then the bitrate i used to get on k[s]vcd :)

cyron 11-12-2004 01:19 PM

after i finish the script i open it in TMPGEnc and load the template, but now in kdvd teplate i got extra options in: Setting->Advanced->'Source Aspect Ratio', what should i choose there ?

kwag 11-12-2004 05:30 PM

"Full Screen", because the script already resizes to the correct aspect.
